Maybe my analogy will be a stretch but this struck me as I was watching this video this morning. We have people cheering for us in life (much like the cheering crowd at the game) that cheer for us to go in the wrong direction. When we pass on from our earthly life to our eternal life I imagine Judgment Day to be a lot like this filed goal. At first glance the field goal looked like it wasn’t good. After the review of the play you could clearly see that the ball struck the estension post on the backside of the upright…the field goal was good after all.
On Judgment Day when God looks he will see our sin. Our dirty, nasty, stinky sin. At first glance God will see that nothing good has come from us. Then Jesus Christ will step in to our rescue and we will be deemed of worth and value becuase we are covered with the blood of Christ. This is an amazing truth that still baffles me. I do know that it is comforting.
