We were in our administrators office today talking about dodgeball (war-ball and bombardment to some). That’s when Mark said this,
“Believe it or not in my wiry adolescent days I was quite good at dodgeball. Really the moves I was doing back then to dodge a ball were right out of the movie the Matrix.”
Then we were talking about how our Mother’s Day services went this weekend. We always have the mothers come upfront and then the men clap and yell for for them. While talking about them Mark said,
“The whole time I was thinking at some point this madness has got to end. I mean some of their only accomplishments are giving birth to a child.”
Of course both of these comments were made in gest. But I did tell Mark they would be appearing on my blog.

Ahh, one of the reasons that man drives me nuts.
“The whole time I was thinking at some point this madness has got to end. I mean some of their only accomplishments are giving birth to a child.”
That is amazing! So the whole “honor the mother’s thing” is a big farce then? Don’t bother!
Terry I agree. If we view it as such we shouldn’t even bother. I really don’t buy into that though. I think moms should be honored and very proudly. It’s a tough tough job.
Yeah - I have a fairly decent idea of the challenges of being a mother.
I always disliked the whole Mother’s Day brouhaha at the Free church. So go ahead and stop the “madness”. It’s obviously a charade that is insincere at best. Who needs it?
I don’t think it is a “charade that is insincere at best” though. I think Eric really believes that mothers should be honored and cherished. Eric really believes that “celebrating” in this way if worth the time and the effort. I don’t think he would do something if he thought it was insincere. I’m not sure I think we need all of the applauding like a sporting event but I do believe mothers need to be recognized and honored.
As far Mark’s comments they were in a cynically humorous way. I know Mark feels that mothers should be appreciated and valued as well.
