mixing life and ministry…

the unpacking begins…

I’m really not fond of moving…at all.  The one thing I despise more than moving…unpacking.  We got in from our mission trip to Arkansas last night around 9.  This morning I was up at 8 going to load my things and move them into the house I will be living in here in Newell.  It’s really a pretty nice house.  Once I get everything settled into the house and my office I will be taking pictures and posting them.

The one thing I don’t think I will get used to about my office is this thing they call a computer.  Yup.  I have moved from a PC to a Mac.  If I have anything to do with it it won’t be this way for long.

Ugh…a Mac?  Are you serious?

Dude, if you need a place to send the Mac, I’ll be happy to give you my mailing address. :-)

Good luck with your unpacking and settling in. It’s never easy.

    what kind of mac?

If it has a newer os i recommend giving it a whirl for a month or so. You will find them to be very intuitive and slick to use. The only catch is that you have to “think” differently with using them. For example, the “dock” is not a windows bar. Its an application launcher, and its where you store windows you are not using. Launching applications from the dock is quicker because you can keep frequently used applications right and ready. A question many have is “if i dont have a taskbar, what do i use?” Simple: Expose. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exposé_(Mac_OS_X) Easily switch between open windows. Or hit Apple(command)+ tab to do something similar to alt+tab on a win os.

I switched to a mac a year ago, and I have not regretted it since.

Do a google search for “mac switcher” or “mac shortcuts.”

its probably an imac. Go to the apple icon in the upper left hand corner. go to “about this mac” what version is it? The newest is 10.6.3 (leopard) but 10.4 (tiger) is still very common.

My brother in-law who is a network guy for Nebraska public power district went from anti-mac (He didn’t want me to marry his sister because I was a new mac guy) to the biggest mac guy i know (not biggest in size, even though he is big).

correction* I bought my mac 2 years ago.

Macs aren’t for everyone. But you don’t have to be an elitist hippie snob to use them, and you don’t have to be a loser/nerd (see mac vs pc ads) to use a P.C.

  6. NAte – I’m sorry you feel this way. I have rebooted this mac more times than I did my old pc in a year already.

  7. [...] am ashamed to admit it.  That is that maybe I was too quick on my review of the mac in my office.  The more I get used to the mac in my office the more I like it.  I have [...]
