Today I went down to Glidell, IA to hear Dr. Bob Lightner speak on “The Exten of the Atonement.” It wa a real intimate setting. Just 9 of us pastors. It was an amazing time listening to Dr. Lightner speak about the atonement and how those who hold the position of limited atonement shoot themselves in the foot over some of their stances on the scriptures they use. He was amazing. I hope (if I live to be 77) that I am that sharp at his age. I also hope I have as much zeal and passion as he has as well.
Today, though, I thought for a brief moment I was watching Dr. Lightner pass on to be in the physical presence of God. He was up giving his talk when he mentioned he was getting lightheaded and had to sit down. He kept mentioning it was getting worse so some of the guys tried to help him to his room. That’s when he collapsed and was out cold for a few minutes. Luckily a few of the guys were right there and were able to catch him as he was going down. By the time the ambulance left he was responsive.
Please pray for Dr. Lightner. We don’t know exactly what happened but for a brief moment I thought we were seeing the passing of a Godly man. I bought one of his books and am really looking forward to reading it. I just wish we could have spent a little more time together.
